A monumental sculpture “A Mourning Soldier” was erected on 21 September in Salekhard, Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District. The monument became one of the key-objects of the Victory Park. The building of the park started in 2010. The Fund takes an active part in the activity connected with this large-scale monumental complex. Some time ago part of the monument content was already installed in the park, including a bronze sculpture of George the Victorious, Archangel Michael, and Alexander Nevsky, sculptural images of the military medals with imitation of precious materials, and other architectural and decorative elements. Installation of the monumental sculpture “A Mourning Soldier” became really a remarkable and important event. The works over the creation of the Soldier lasted for more than half of a year. Apart from the author a whole team of engineers, technicians and casters participated in its creation. An experienced sculptor of monuments from Nizhniy Taghil Vladimir Pavlenko advised the sculptor. The bronze sculptor “A Mourning Soldier” is five meters high, it eternalize memory of warriors wounded during the Second World War. During the first days of the installation of the monument the Governor of YNAD Dmitriy Kobylking and Mayor of Salekhard Ivan Kononenko laid flowers to the sculpture “A Mourning Soldier”
